Investigations on Complexes of Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) with Cytosine Acting as a Bidentate Ligand

Abstract

A series of complexes of the type [ML₂(H₂O)]X₂ where M = Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II); L = cytosine and X = Cl or ½SO₄ have been prepared and characterised with respect to their bonding and stereochemistry through elemental analysis, conductance, thermogravimetry, magnetic moment measurements and electronic and infrared spectra. The complexes are octahedral and coordination occurs through N(3) and O(2) of cytosine.
