Some Biologically Active Mixed Ligand Complexes of Co(II), Cu(II) and Ni(II) with ONO, NNO and SNO Donor Nicotinoylhydrazine-Derived Ligands

Abstract

A series of new biologically active mixed ligand complexes of Co(II), Cu(II) and Ni(II) with nicotinoylhydrazine-derived ONO, NNO and SNO Schiff base ligands (L1, L2 and L3) have been synthesised and characterised on the basis of conductance and magnetic measurements, elemental analyses and 1H NMR, IR and electronic spectral data. The synthesised ligands and their complexes have been screened for their antibacterial activity against bacterial species Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus. The activity data show the metal complexes to be more active than the parent free ligands against one or more bacterial species.
