Abstract
The ammonium salt of [MnW11O37F3H]7, has been isolated in the crystalline form. Evidence from analytical results, negative-ion fast atom bombardment mass spectra (FABMS), visible and infrared spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and X-ray powder patterns has shown that the anion has a Keggin structure. The density of the compound (NH4 7MnW11O37F3H. 4H2O is 3.59 g/cc, and the magnetic susceptibility per gram of sample at room temperature is 2.90 × 10−6. The cyclic voltammograms obtained with glassy carbon working electrode and Ag/AgCl reference electrode show values of Ecathode/Eanode (V/V) at pH = 4.0: −0.558/−0.942, 0.017/0.205; and at pH = 6.0: −0.876/−0.774, −0.079/0.138. FABMS shows that the formula weight of the anhydrous compound is 2863 da.
