Abstract

3,4:9,10-Dibenzo-13,14-benzo(15-crown-5)-1,12-diaza-5,8-dioxacyclotetradecane [L2] has been synthesized from 3,4:9,10-dibenzo-13,14-benzo(15-crown-5)-1,12-diaza-5,8-dioxacyclotetradecane-1,11-diene [L1] wich has synthesized by treating 1,4-bis(2′-formylphenyl)-1,4-dioxabutane with 4′,5′-diaminobenzo(15-crown-5). The interaction of Cu(II), Ni(II) and Co(II) ions with the following macrocycles [L2] and [L1], each containing a N2O2 donor set, has been investigated. Physical measurements indicate that these rings from 1:1 complexes with the mentioned transition metal ions. Structures of the new macrocycles and their transition metal complexes are proposed based on elemental analyses, 1H, 13C NMR, IR, UV-VIS, mass spectra, magnetic susseptibility, and conductivity data.
