Abstract
Metal chelates of the chlorides and acetates of Ni(II), Co(II), Cu(II), Cr(III), Fe(III) and Mn(II) with N,N′-bis(indol-2-oxo-3-ylidene)-1,3-diaminopropane were prepared and characterized by analytical, conductivity, magnetic, 1H NMR, infrared and electronic spectral data. It was found that the ligand acts as neutral, dinegative ONNO quadridentate, yielding neutral and cationic complexes. Magnetic and spectral data suggest a square-planar structure for the Ni(II) and Co(II) chelates, an octahedral one for the Mn(II), Fe(III) and Cr(III) chelates and a dimeric penta-coordinate structure for the Cu(II) chelate.
