Abstract
Some new diorganotin(IV) dichloride complexes of the general formula R2SnCl2.L, where R = Me, Bu, Ph; L = CH=N(O)C6H4X (X = H, p-CH3, CH3O, CH3CO, F, Cl or Br) have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, and IR, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. The spectral data show that the nitrone ligands coordinate with tin through the most active oxygen atom of the N-oxide to give penta-coordinate tin complexes. An explanation for such observations is given.
