Studies on Some Mixed-Ligand Chelates of Cobalt(II) Involving Acetoacetylarylamides and Biologically Active Heterocyclic Oxygen Donors

Abstract

A series of new mixed-ligand complexes of cobalt(II) of the composition [Co(Cl)(A-A)(L)(H2O)2], where (A-A)H = acetoacetanilide (AAAH), o-acetoacetanisidide (OAAANH) or o-acetoacetotoluidide (OAATH) and L = MP, DMMASPHP or ADMPHP have been synthesized and characterized by analytical data, molar conductance, magnetic measurements, thermogravimetric, electron paramagnetic resonance spectra, electronic and infrared spectral studies. The overall IR studies suggest that acetoacetylarylamides behave as monobasic bidentate oxygen donors and MP, DMMASPHP and ADMPHP as monodentate oxygen donors. Suitable octahedral structures have been proposed for these complexes.
