Abstract
The complexes of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cd(II) with some hydroxyazo-pyrazolopyridines (L1-L4) have been prepared in the absence and presence of pyridine, 2-picoline and 3-picoline as Lewis bases. The complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, thermal decomposition, conductivity, electronic and infrared spectral measurements. The ligands L1-L4 coordinate to the metal ions as neutral bidentate ligands. The binary complexes are active towards Lewis bases to form mixed-ligand complexes. These mixed ligand complexes are more potent as bacteriostatic agents than the precursor complexes.
