Abstract
The lanthanide complexes of stiboglueonate [C12H17O17Sb2]3−- (SG) having the formula Na3[Ln(SG)2] [Ln = La(III), Pr(III), Nd(III), Sm(III), Eu(III), Gd(III), Tb(III) and Dy(III)] have been synthesized. These complexes were characterized on the basis of analytical data and TGA and DTA, magnetic susceptibility and infrared, electronic and emission spectroscopy. Results of infrared spectroscopy suggest bonding of SG through the carboxylate moiety. The hypersensitive band profile of the Nd(III) complex indicated a coordination number of eight. The emission spectra suggested low symmetry without an inversion centre for the europium(III) complex and high symmetry for the terbium(III) complex.
