Synthesis and Characterization of Some Dinuclear Tetraaza Macrocyclic Complexes of Copper(II)

Abstract

The template synthesis of dimetallic macrocyclic copper(II) complexes of 1,5,7,11-tetraaza-6,6,12,12-tetrachlorocyclododecane (TTDE) ([CU₂(TTDE) (H₂O)]Cl₄·8H₂O), 1,5,8,12-tetraaza-6,7,13,14-tetrachlorocyclotetradeca-6,13-diene (TTTD) ([Cu₂(TTTD)(H₂O)]Cl₄·16H₂O) and 1,5,8,12-tetraaza-6,7,13,14-tetrachlorocyclotetradecane (TTTE) ([CU₂(TTTE) (H₂O)₄]Cl₄·8H₂O) involving condensation of 1,3-diaminopropane with the tetrachlorocarbons carbon tetrachloride, 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethylene and 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane, respectively, is being described. The metal-free macrocycle hydrochloride TTDE·4HCl has also been isolated. The macrocyclic compounds have been characterized by analytical and spectral studies.
