Abstract
A new series of Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes of salicylideneamino acids [H2(sal:aa)] with imidazole or substituted imidamle (B) have been svntliesized and characterized by elenicntal analyses, conductance mcasurements, thermogravimentric analyses, electronic and IR spectra. The complexes are tetra-coordinate of the general formula M(sal:aa)B. The salicylideneamino acid ligand acts as a divalent tridentate Schiff base, where the imidazole or substituted imidazole acts as a monodentate ligand. The structure of the complexes is suggested to be square-planar for both Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes.
