Abstract
Anhydrous cobalt(II), nickel(II), zinc(II), cadmium(II), mercury(II) and dimethyltin(IV) dibromoacetates have been prepared by reacting dibromoacetic anhydride with the respective metal(II) acetates or dimethyltin(IV) oxide in CCl4. These new compounds M(OOCCHBr2)2 [M = Co, Ni, Zn, Cd or Hg] and (CH3)2Sn(OOCCHBr2)2 have been characterised by elemental analyses, IR, NMR (1H, 119Sn), diffused reflectance spectroscopy, and magnetic susceptibility studies.
