Performance Zoning: Successor to Euclidian Zoning?

Abstract

Performance zoning is a technique of land use control that permits or prohibits land uses on a given site at a particular time on the basis of the measurable effects (performance) of each of the uses. This article describes and defines performance zoning and discusses the model performance zoning ordinance developed for use in Lake County, Illinois.
