Abstract
In 1975 the Florida Legislature adopted a mandatory local government planning law, joining seven other states that previously had adopted similar laws. Ten years later, with the number of mandatory planning laws totaling at least 15.1 Florida has adopted a mandatory local government land development regulation act2 with strong linkages between planning and regulation. This article discusses the provisions of that act.
