State Laws on Growth Management

Abstract

Although “growth management” has been discussed in the literature and in some planning circles for more than a decade, it is a topic of increasing interest. Several states have adopted new laws related to growth management. Growth management case law continues to develop, largely independent of the legislative enactments. This article reviews the growth management legislation in several states and summarizes some of the leading cases on the subject.
