Computerized Zoning: The Future is Now

&
Pages 3-11 | Published online: 15 Jul 2011

Abstract

Zoning will be 80 years old this year,1 but the face of a typical zoning ordinance is remarkably unchanged. Certainly procedures, techniques and standards have changed. Yet, today's standard zoning ordinance looks little different than those earlier regulations, except that the type size is slightly larger and the bulk substantially greater. (For example, Florida Land Development Codes often exceed 1,000 pages.)
