Local Regulation of Lawful Sex Businesses

Pages 3-10 | Published online: 15 Jul 2011

Abstract

Many communities are concerned about the neighborhood impacts of sexually oriented businesses.1 The rash of Internet web sites invented by these businesses in the 1990s lured some community officials into hoping the adult use land sites would dwindle in number. However, communities are still being pressured to allow new sexually oriented businesses with some small towns facing their first such use with surprise: “We thought this was a big city problem.”
