Computation of variances and covariances of order statistics from the geometric distribution

Abstract

An explicit expression for the expected value of the product of two order statistics from the geometric distribution is derived. A method of computation of the expected values and covariances of order statistics is discussed. Computational errors are avoided by use of integer mode arithmetic.
