Public Perception of Strategies for Increasing Participation in Recycling Programs

Pages 19-22 | Published online: 15 Jul 2010

Abstract

Public perception of selected strategies for increasing participation in city recycling programs was assessed. These strategies included increasing the level of knowledge about recycling, using effective channels to inform the community about recycling, increasing the convenience of recycling by placing recycling containers in accessible locations, and getting input from the public regarding changes that would induce full participation in recycling programs. The results indicate that those who design recycling programs should consider these strategies in their planning.
