Abstract

The acceptability and possible role of virtual reality (VR) in the field of environmental education were investigated. A survey instrument was developed and administered to environmental education practitioners and VR developers. The principal findings were that (a) the sample population of environmental educators indicated an acceptance of VR as a teaching tool and (b) VR applications that allow students to have experiences not available in the physical world were perceived as beneficial to environmental education.
