Synthesis and Characterization of Organotin Substituted Heteropolytungstophosphates and Their Biological Activity

Abstract

Organotin‐substituted Keggin or Dawson tungstophosphates [(CH₃OOCCH₂CH₂Sn)₃–(PW₉ O₃₄)₂]⁹⁻, [(CH₃OOCCH₂CH₂Sn)PW₁₁O₃₉]⁴⁻, [(CH₃OOCCH₂CH₂Sn)P₂ W₁₇O₆₁]⁷⁻, [(CH₃OOCCH(CH₃)CH₂Sn)₃(PW₉ O₃₄)₂]⁹⁻, [(CH₃OOCCH(CH₃)CH₂Sn)PW₁₁O₃₉]⁴⁻ and [(CH₃OOCCH(CH₃)CH₂Sn)P₂W₁₇ O₆₁]⁷⁻ have been prepared by reactions of the β–methoxycarbonylethyltin, β-methoxycarbonyl-i-propyltin trichlorides with PW₉O₃₄ ^9-−, PW₁₁O₃₉ ⁷⁻ and P₂W₁₇O₆₁ ¹⁰⁻, respectively. The products were isolated as K ⁺, and Bu₄N⁺ salts, and were characterized by means of elemental analysis, IR ¹H NMR, ¹⁸³W NMR and ¹¹⁹Sn NMR spectra, and polarography. The antitumour activity of the complexes as investigated and the effect of the polyanions and estertin on antitumour activity was examined.
