Syntheses and Crystal Structures of Two Ion Pair Complexes, [Ru(bpy)3]2[Fe(CN)6]I · 7H2O and [Ru(bpy)3]- [Fe(CN)5NO]CH3OH · H2O

Two ion pair complexes, [Ru(bpy)3]2[Fe(CN)6]I [sdot] 7H3O (1) and [Ru(bpy)3][Fe(CN)5NO](CH3OH) [sdot] H2O (2) (bpy = 2,2-bipyridine) have been synthesized and structurally characterized. X-Ray crystallographic structures of 1 and 2 both show Fe(III) and Ru(II) in distorted octahedral environments. In both complexes, H-bonding interactions between an uncoordinated water molecule and the nitrogen atom of a cyano group exist.
