Abstract
A new TEMPO derivative was synthesized and two Dy-radical complexes, [Dy(hfac)3(H2O)hmb-TEMPO] (1) and [Dy(hfac)3(hmb-TEMPO)2] (2, hmb-TEMPO = 4-((2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene)amino)-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl; hfac = hexafluoroacetylacetonate), were synthesized through reacting hmb-TEMPO radical and Dy(hfac)3 with 1:1 and 1:2 ratio, respectively. The structures of 1 and 2 were elucidated by single-crystal X-ray structural analysis. Both 1 and 2 feature mononuclear structures. Nonzero out-of-phase signals were observed for both Dy derivatives, indicating single-molecule magnet behavior. The room-temperature photoluminescence spectra of 1 and 2 exhibit strong emissions in the visible region.
