Abstract
CuCl2 reacts with four equivalents of Ph2SiO2Li2 in THF to form Cu(μ-OSiPh2OSiPh2O)2 [Li(THF)2]2 in 80% yield by formal elimination of Li2O and LiCl. CuBr2 reacts analogously. The product of these reactions has a spirocyclic metallasiloxane structure containing two and two
rings.
