EDGAR Z. FRIEDEBERG, a Contributing Editor, is Professor Emeritus of Education at Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia, Canada, and the author of The Vanishing Adolescent, Coming of Age in America, and Deference to Authority, the Case of Canada, among other works.
