Abstract

Recently developed catalytic processes with hydrophobic catalysts supported over styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer (SDB) were reviewed. Applications of such catalytic processes in commercial chemicals production and environmental management were examined in great detail. Based on this research work, the feasibility of hydrophobic catalysts over SDB utilized in the synthesis of methyl methacrylate (MMA) from methacrolein (MAL) in molecular O2 was evaluated.
