Abstract
Ethyl acetate cannot be easily removed from either mixtures with ethanol and water because of the minimum ternary azeotrope or from methyl ethyl ketone because of the proximity of boiling points. Ethyl acetate can be readily recovered from mixtures with these two by using extractive distillation in which the extractive agent is a higher boiling oxygenated, nitrogenous or sulfur-containing organic compound or a mixture of these.
