INPUT-MULTIPLICITY IN LUMPED-PARAMETER SYSTEMS

Abstract

Input multiplicity is a situation in which different inputs can give the same output. In this work we identify the conditions leading to input multiplicity and present an efficient technique for dividing the parameter space into regions with different number of input states as well as with different types of bifurcation diagrams. It is shown that bounds on the values of the manipulated inputs have an important impact on the number of feasible solutions. The technique is illustrated with examples.
