Abstract
The extraction of copper/nickel solutions from acid solutions with LIX 64N as extractant at pH = 1.8 and using empty and packed tubes filled with Raschig rings as static mixers was investigated in this work. The extraction of nickel from ammoniacal solutions with LIX 64N at pH = 11 was carried out in the same manner. The percent extraction was measured as a function of the volumetric flow rate and mean residence time. Values of the pressure drop through the mixer are also reported. The systems studied show how the type of two-phase flow may affect the percent extraction when the mass transfer process is fast.
