LIGHT INTENSITY PROFILE IN HETEROGENEOUS PHOTOCHEMICAL REACTOR

Abstract

The two-flux model is successfully applied to the homogeneous suspension of the light-absorbing and light-reflecting particle in a transparent continuous phase, and the theoretical method is derived for obtaining the right intensity profile in the suspension. Some illustrative calculations show the usefulness of this simple method in discussing the effects of the absorption fraction, the particle diameter and the particle concentration on the light intensity profiles and on the total light absorption rate in a photochemical reactor.
