Abstract
An efficient near-infrared emitting fluorescent lamp is described. Iron-activated lithium metaaluminate phosphor provides emission predominently in the range of 700 to 860 nm. Two present applications are the photosorting of agricultural products and in plant growth experimentation. Other potential applications are discussed.
