Abstract
This paper indicates some of the factors that must be considered when evaluating fluorescent lamps. Lamp performance is not judged solely by measurement of lamp characteristics on a reference ballast, but investigation under the various conditions that may be encountered in the field is also essential. This includes lamp operation over a wide range of temperatures as well as in luminaires.
