Abstract
Three hundred and seventeen pairs of real materials of 51 colors, each pair of which matches in daylight, were illuminated (by computer) by 19 designs of metamer lamp. Successive approximation provides a spectral power distribution suitable for a metamer lamp. This distribution spreads the chromaticities (perceived colors) of each of the 317 pairs very effectively. The performance of a real lamp based on this design is described.
