Abstract
Safety-colors in hazardous areas are often essential for guidance and safety of personnel, and are often illuminated by commercial lamps. Some commercial lamps fail to render safety-colors identifiably, and so confuse their message. Rather than fault the light source, the safety-colors can be redesigned so that the burden of identifiability falls on them. Redesign of spectral reflectance of safety-colors, and the addition of fluorescence, are both shown to allow the poorer rendering commercial lamps to render safety-colors more reliably.
