Abstract

The authors discuss the development of an iodine cycle halogen lamp of higher intrinsic luminous efficiency. It can be operated in any position. It has the reliability of the long life iodine lamp and has most of the desired characteristics of the bromine cycle lamp. The performance of the iodine cycle lamp has, therefore, been improved so that many similar lamp types need not be considered for a changeover to the bromine cycle.
