Abstract
The authors discuss the specialized crosswalk illumination systems that were designed and installed at seven high accident crosswalks in Philadelphia. Photometric, detection, observational and attitudinal surveys and experiments were conducted and showed significant improvement resulting from the use of this specialized form of illumination.
