What is Visual Clarity?

Pages 85-94 | Published online: 20 Sep 2013

Abstract

There is evidence that the human visual system comprises three well-defined channels, with peak response at three widely different well-defined wavelengths. Illuminants concentrating their power at these three wavelengths yield pronounced visual clarity of the illuminated scene. In addition to these conclusions, this paper offers a superficial theory of visual clarity, and compares it to experimental results with different illuminants.
