A Discomfort Glare Calibrating Device: Subjective Evaluations in a Standard Environment

Pages 85-89 | Published online: 20 Sep 2013

Abstract

A group of 50 men and women adjusted the luminance of a glare source in a standardized model environment to a sensation threshold between comfort and discomfort (BCD). Data from this experiment provides an environmental comfort rating or means of sensation M = 121, which compares favorably with an M of 120 from a previous population. This means of calibrating observers should prove useful as a common denominator in unifying results of current researches.
