Photometry and Visual Assessment of Polarized Light under Realistic Conditions

Abstract

The mechanisms that produce Haidinger's polarization brushes introduce a discrepancy between photoelectric and subjective assessments of luminance. Although these effects are measurable they are probably too small to be of concern to the illuminating engineer under most circumstances.
