Emerging Lighting Control Technologies: The Alternatives and Trade-Offs

Abstract

Various new ballast and lighting control technologies are discussed and evaluated. These new technologies, generically known as high frequency ballasts and lighting controls for lead type ballasts, are characterized and compared with conventional lighting circuits. Details on circuit topology and salient waveforms show constraints of high frequency ballasts and methods for controlling conventional fluorescent lighting systems without cathode voltage reduction.

Cette étude examine et évalue diverses technologies nouvelles de contrôle d'éclairage et de ballast. Ces nouvelles technologies. désignées par le terme générique de ballasts hautes fréquences et contrôles d'éclairage pour ballasts de tète, font l'objet d'une analyse et d'une comparaison par rapport aux circuits d'éclairage classiques. L'étude détaillée de la topologie des circuits et des formes d'ondes saillantes indique les contraintes des ballasts hautes fréquences et des méthodes de contrôle des systèmes classiques d'éolairage fluorescent sans réduction de la tension de cathode.

Se examinan y evalúan varias nuevas tecnologías para el control del alumbrado y resistencias compensadoras. Estas nuevas tecnologías, conocidas genéricamente como resistencias compensadoras de alta frecuencia y controles de alumbrado para resistencias conpensadoras de conexión, se caracterizan y comparan con los circuitos de alumbrado convencionales. Los detalles de la topología de los circuitos y las formas de onda predominantes señalan las restricciones de las resistencias compensadoras de alta frecuencia y de los métodos para el control de los sistemas de alumbrado fluorescente convencionales sin reducción del voltaje catódico.
