Abstract
In a country where literacy is low, the film medium can overcome the barriers of illiteracy and to a certain extent can provide a universal language. It is a popular art of cultural dynamism and in a sense a single most potent cultural influence which can contribute to fostering a sense of oneness and mutuality in a multi-lingual country. In a short span of time, the film can get the messages of public and personal hygiene, of improved farming and family planning across to thousands of people. To a great extent, it can change, shape and constantly provoke for change the very traditions and culture of a people divided by language, race and religion.
