Abstract

Dr. J.J. Smolicz is widely recognised for his studies on cultural pluralism and multicultural education and for his development of humanistic sociology as a basis for research. His work has been acknowledged in Australia and overseas for its theoretical insights and educational significance. He began his research on ethnic cultures soon after his appointment to Adelaide University in 1965 and was one of the first to undertake such studies in Australia.
