Abstract
This paper looks at high information and communication technology and discusses its impact on society. Some communication professionals conversant with development issues have questioned the glowing claims made by these kinds of technologies based on relevant experience, choosing to focus instead on ‘small media’ technology and the self-directed kind of sustainable development which it affords.
