Abstract
This paper begins with a brief look at the way broadcasting operated in Asia. There is no ‘typical’ country in the region and no ‘typical’ broadcasting organization. There is however, every conceivable type of broadcasting system. The winds of change nevertheless began to blow only recently due to mainly two factors–technology and deregulation. The writer describes the experiences of various countries with regard to satellite technology, and how policies helped to shape the direction of broadcasting. He concludes by stating that it is imperative that management attitudes change in accordance with the latest developments in the broadcasting scene as competition hots up. Ultimately how broadcasters adapt to the changes is what will determine who will survive.
