The Effect of an Electric Field on a Thermotropic Polymer: Optical Memory Effect

ABSTRACT

The effect of an electric field on an aromatic polyester which can be cooled without appreciable crystallisation is studied. Structures created by application of an electric field can be quenched by cooling. The principle of an optical memory using this effect is given.
