Abstract
A new thermotropic polyester having mesogenic group based on p-hydroxybenzoic acid and estradiol was synthesized. The mesogenic chiral groups of these polyesters are separated through flexible oligomethylsiloxane spacer. Incorporation of these spacers brought about a large decrease in the transition temperature of the thermotropic polyesters. The basic thermotropic properties of these polyesters were studied by means of polarized light microscope and differential scanning calorimeter.
