The Crystal and Molecular Structure of 1-[[4-(Dimethylamino)Phenyl]Amino]-9, 10-Anthracenedione

ABSTRACT

The molecular and crystal structure of the title compound (melting point: 231°C) is reported.

The crystal data are: a = 12. 206(3), b = 16. 358(3), c = 8. 612(2) Å, β = 98. 736 (3)°. The space group is P2₁/c with 4 molecules in the unit cell. The molecular structure is discussed and compared with those of other anthraquinones, especially the pleochroic dyes D-27 and D-43.
