Landau–Ginzburg theory of phase transitions in fractal systems

Pages 79-87 | Received 30 Aug 2006, Accepted 13 Sep 2006, Published online: 04 Dec 2010

Abstract

We present novel formulation of Ginzburg–Landau theory of phase transitions for some class of fractal systems. Using logarithmic coordinates we derive expression for the free-energy functional, which resembles formula for bulk systems. This allows us to describe phase transitions in the way which is reminiscent to conventional crystalline systems. The presented theory is extended onto antiferroelectric, multisublattice and modulated systems.
