Abstract
Dielectric relaxation of 4-(2-hexyloxyethoxy)4′-cyanobiphenyl (6O2OCB) enclosed in porous SiO2 matrix is presented and compared with the results of the substance in bulk. It was found that molecular reorientations in pores are faster than in bulk. The evidence of the isotropic–smectic phase transition is shown. Dynamics observed in isotropic liquid is of non-Arrhenius type while in smectic phase is of Arrhenius one. Comparison with the results concerning the substance enclosed in ZrO2 porous matrix is added.
