Studies of the temperature-density coexistence curve in liquid solutions of limiting miscibility

Abstract

The hydrostatic method of density measurements is adapted for the determination of the density-temperature coexistence curve in liquid mixtures of limited miscibility. (d, T) coexistence curves for mixtures of o-nitrotoluene with n-decane, n-dodecane and n-hexadecane are presented. The critical density is found to be a function of the number of carbon atoms in the solvent molecules.
